TEAM Sho-Bud Artist, Co-CEO

Dawn Jackson

Dawn Jackson is Co-CEO of Sho-bud and lead singer and songwriter for Sho-Bud Records’ band Hatfield Rain.

Bio

Dawn Jackson grew up in Nashville, trying to pluck melodies on the guitars hanging on the wall of her grandfather’s shop on Broadway. She later named her publishing company and record label after that guitar shop and in October 2002, released her debut album on Sho-Bud Music, recorded and co-produced with San Diego-based band Hatfield Rain. She wrote and produced a solo project titled “Inside Out” in 2004 intertwining the genres of pop, country and blue grass.

In 2005, she had her first TV placement on MTV’s “Laguna Beach” with the pop song “Next Time”, as sung by co-writer Alissa Moreno. The angst-ridden tune subsequently made the “Laguna Beach: Summer Can Last Forever” soundtrack alongside Dashboard Confessional, All-American Rejects, Lifehouse and other major label artists. The album was released on Interscope Records in 2006.

In 2010, Sho-Bud Music was awarded the National Performance Activity Award from SESAC for “Beer on the Table”, co-written by SBM writer, Ken Johnson. It was co-written and recorded by artist Josh Thompson and climbed to #17 on the Billboard Country Music charts.

Dawn worked with her father and uncle, David and Harry Jackson, building Jackson Steel Guitars from 2005 to 2025, when she and brother Will Jackson re-acquired the world renowned Sho-Bud brand. They now continue to build exquisite pedal steels and lap steels, as well as electric 6 string guitars and components. They also recently announced the acquisition of the Mosrite brand, with the Mark II model currently in production at their Las Vegas shop.

Outside of work, she can be found somewhere in the woods…or not.
