Jake DeJongh

Idaho hillbilly, guitarist, songwriter

Bio

My name is Jake Freeman DeJongh. I am a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, teacher and producer living in Boise, Idaho. I love guitars, I love steel guitars. I love hill billy music, I love cosmic music, I love sounds that twang and sparkle and sob. My journey playing pedal steel started ten years ago, while I was living in New York City – I missed home, my country life and I needed something more than a telecaster to bring my imagination to that place. I live in Idaho now. My music is rooted in classic as well as modern styles. I am always trying to learn from players of the past while innovating my own style. The Byrds are my favorite band. I love West Coast country. I love the Nashville sound. I am so grateful for Sho-Bud for building such inspiring instruments.

Gear

I play a Sho-Bud S-10 Pro VI built in 2026 by Harry and David Jackson. It’s a 3×4 standard set up with a 16.5k single coil. I use vintage Fender amps – 72’ Twin, 72’ Deluxe and 72’ Princeton. I use Goodrich volume pedals and BJ’s bars.
